Wild Foraging: a Nettle Harvesting Tutorial

As we move into the end of February, the first signs of Spring are beginning to bud up around us, (hooray!). The small cascades of the white blooms of Indian Plum flowers are just starting to emerge, heralding the shift from the dormancy of winter to the new growth of Spring. Although it is not quite time yet to shed our winter coats, it is time to start scanning our local landscapes for our favorite nutrient dense forage friend, Stinging Nettle! Although this edible plant lives up to its name and can deliver a fierce sting, it can be safely eaten with simple processing steps that removes the sting but keeps all the nutrients.
